About Us

Hello! I am Dr. Jan Warnes, creator, and heart of The Family Associates. We are an independent clinical psychology practice with a range of multi-disciplinary therapists. We offer therapy for children and young people/teens/young adults, family intervention, and group programs. We also have specialist trauma-focused therapy and specialist cognitive behavioral therapists for adults.

Our newest services include Neuro-psychological assessment for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Autism. Here we aim to offer quality NICE compliant assessments at the most affordable prices. Following assessment, we can accommodate a range of psychological approaches for post-diagnostics for the whole family. We have strong partnership links with prescribers’s if this is an option you wish to pursue.

At The Family Associates, we provide heart-led, holistic, and professional mental health services. We offer a safe, warm, and empathic space to begin the work for yourself, your children, and/or your family. Often people access therapy with us to help them feel less distressed, improve their well-being, and work on therapeutic goals.

We believe change happens through talking and that everyone is worthy of living their life the way they want. Sometimes things get in the way of this, and life can be hard.

When working with young people, we believe it’s important to hold a safe therapeutic space, and where possible to involve parents as much as is consensual. We are passionate about supporting the systems and environments around the family, the child-parent relationship, and the school environment. All the systems working together are paramount.

The Therapy Process

The therapy process is collaborative (a “joint effort”). This means you can let us know what you find helpful or unhelpful and share your ideas on what will aid progress.

Therapy is not necessarily a “quick fix” and it can take time and work to see changes. We cannot guarantee that sessions will result in improvement. We will do our best to provide effective treatment and help you achieve what you want.

Your progress can be regularly reviewed and we will only recommend further sessions if these are likely to be of benefit to you. You are under no obligation to continue sessions if it’s not working for you or if we aren’t a good fit.

All my associates abide by the same ethical principles outlined in my terms of engagement. We have a privacy policy, and we would need consent from you regarding both of these agreements before proceeding.
